update about my biggest goal in 2021

Last year I learned something that truly broke my brain, friend.
After years of feeling shame around my lack of attention to detail, I started to see that harnessing my strengths, rather than improving my weaknesses, was what was really going to get me ahead in my life and business.
I’ve shifted my focus away from things I’m less good at or just don’t want to do (#shoutout to my assistant who helps me with these weekly love letters… among other things!!) and I’m focusing on strengthening my teaching, coaching, inviting clients to work with me (sales) and building relationships through vulnerable and authentic conversations.
That last one became crystal clear for me after my conversation with Monica Rodger’s podcast on The Revelation Project in March 2021.
I was blown away by how much fun I had! The joy, ease, and excitement I got while being on her podcast was uncomparable.
And I wanted more, more, MORE!!!
With a big dose of imposter syndrome and a fire under my booty, in August, I got on a call with Monica again. This time it was about how to do the damn thing wrapped in a pep talk.
During my call with Monica (and her partner who was listening in via the speakers and commenting things from the background because Monica seems to rarely wear headphones when I'm on a call with her) I agreed that my goal was to book eight podcasts interviews by Jan 2022.
That meant I spent a few months:
😬 Making it up as I went and just firing off pitches willy nilly until I got a rhythm and practice on a couple of podcasts
😬 Hiring a visibility coach to help me get clear on my conversation topics
😬 Finding perfect match podcasts
😬 Creating relationships with podcast hosts before pitching
😬 Pitching myself and applying to be on 36 (!!!) podcasts
😬 Preparing for interviews energetically, physically, and mentally
😬 Practicing my favorite stories and client results so that they roll off my tongue easily while also being authentic and true to my values
😬 Celebrating and knowing I did the best I could at the time after each interview
Even though it was something I absolutely loved doing, it still took a lot discipline and commitment.
And at times, all of these moving parts were overwhelming; I actually quit for two months at one point.
I also got a big surprise and was invited on to two podcasts without lifting a finger!! #thanksuniverse

It reminds me of a job search!!
When we commit to a big goal that scares the sh*t out of us, it takes time, practice, and also support from other people.
I was stopped many times by my fear of being seen, imposter syndrome and my own lack of attention to details and strategy/process.
I leveraged the people I had already in my corner to get closer to the goal.
And as I started getting traction, I hired a coach to help me see my blindspots and make it easier for me.
And just like a job interview rejection, there was one podcast host that cancelled on me by just deleting the calendar invite at the last minute and you know what, I still haven’t heard back from him.
Before then I had had some odd feelings about him and should have probably canceled it myself earlier so… I’ll chalk that up to the universe knowing that it was not a good fit and better for me to just stay away. #thanksuniverse
So, since speaking with Monica, I released three podcasts, recorded three, and have two more booked which is EIGHT! Celebrate with me! 🥳
